A New Year

A New Year

2015 has been the year of most change for me (and my hubby,) by far. We have struggled. I lost the best man I ever knew when I was eight months pregnant. I buried that man on my birthday at a funeral that I had to plan. We met the little boy who’s going to call me mama. I counted his fingers and toes. I cried. I cried a lot. We bought a new home, and said goodbye to our first one. We bought two cats. We watched our little girls turn three. Our lives have changed in more ways than I can begin to count, and yet here I am wondering where 2015 went.

Wasnt January just a couple months ago.?

2016 has snuck up on me fast, and I’m having trouble figuring out who it is I want to be this year. What I want to do..

I want to get back into photography. I want to finish my studio, and offer makeup/ bodouir package sessions, because those are two things that make me happy.

I want to be a better wife to my husband. Some days I worry that he only gets the worst of me, and I’ve been working on it. I want 2016 to be our best year yet.

I want to do my makeup often. I want to do it on the days I’m not leaving the house, and even if I have no one to impress. I want to to do what I love.

I’m going to continue to give my babies everything that I have.

I want to spend as much time with family as I can. Losing people will show you how short our time here really is.

More than anything I want to be kinder to myself. I’ve been trying to be more body positive. More loving towards myself..  It’s hard. I suffered from anorexia, and bulimia as a teenager, and I still have trouble looking at myself in the mirror, especially after two babies. I try to look in the mirror every day and find three things to love about myself. I’m trying to take Aaron’s words to heart when he tells me so often how beautiful I am. I’m trying to see myself through his eyes.

I don’t have any major changes to make in 2016. I’m pretty pleased with where I am, and where my life is going. All I want to do in this new year is to continue becoming a better me.

I want to continue trying to love myself for me, and for everything I have to offer so that I can teach my little humans how to do the same.

Pink Lippie Stash

Pink Lippie Stash

Pink has never really been my color, but I’ve developed a love for it over the past few months and can’t stop buying them.! Here’s my current collection..

  2. Milani lipstick in Pink Frost $6.30
  3. Flower lipstick in Sweet Peony $7.00
  4. Nyx matte lipstick in Pale Pink $6.00
  5. Nyx butter gloss in, Vanilla Cream Pie $5.00
  6. Nyx butter lipstick in, Hubba Bubba Waouh $6.00
  7. Colourpop Lippie stix in, “Cupid.”
  8. Victoria’s Secret gloss in, “Flirt.”
  9. Kat Von D everlasting liquid lipstick in Melancholia, $20.00
  10. Smashbox be legendary lipstick in Pout, $20.00
  11. Bite Beauty lipgloss in, “Bellini.”
  12. Nyx soft matte lip cream in  Instanbul $6.00

A couple things, number 4 is a great dupe for number 10 if you want to save $15.! Really if you’re on a budget I think Nyx is always the way to go to load up on great quality lippies without the price tag that comes with that quality. Another thing, when I wiped all of these off my Kat Von D lipstick really stuck out to me, because it didn’t go anywhere. It stayed put, and in my experience it does that when I wear it on my lips as well, KVD’s everlasting liquid lipsticks are my absolute favorite and my go-to.

Favorite Highlighters

Favorite Highlighters

Okay so tonight I want to post about all of my highlighters, which I’m not a big fan of, which are my favorite and why. Highlighter is probably my favorite part of my makeup routine, or at least high up there.! I just don’t feel like my look is finished without it.

6. Too Faced Candlelight, Find it Here

This highlighter is an extremely soft one, which is why I’m giving it spot 6 on here.. I LOVE highlighters, and this one is honestly a little too unnoticeable for me. It’s not a bad thing by any means, this would be a great highlighter for anyone who’s just looking for a little something extra or some brightening, it’s very pale in color, with light gold flecks, and it gives a gorgeous, (but very light,) golden glow. The consistency isn’t quite as soft as I want, but I do wear this on the days I don’t feel like wearing makeup to get a light dewy look. Also great for testing the highlighting waters of its new to you.! Other perks.? It’s the only highlighter I have that I would comfortably put all over my face.
5. Naked Illuminated, Find it Here, $30

This one is SO sparkly. Like wayyy sparkly. I love it, I use it if my eyeshadow needs a little pick me up, and I use it over other highlighters on days I want that extra shine. It picks up light well and is amazing for all over body during a night out since it’s a very sheen product. The pigment isn’t extremely high but I don’t mind that, because it’s so great over everything. Cons, it’s not very pigmented so it just shows up as glitter on its own.
4. Benefit Watts Up highlighter stick in champagne, Find it Here, 30$

I love this highlighter for on the go because it’s so quick and easy to use. I don’t usually care for champagne colored highlighters but this one is just so beautiful, and looks good even on my pale skin. I definitely recced this for anyone who wants something quick and easy.

3. Benefit High Beam, Find here for $26.00, I love this highlighter, it was my first liquid highlighter ever. It’s got a gorgeous and light pink color shimmer that I love to use anytime I use pinky eyeshadows it’s also just such a good change from the pale highlighters I usually use.

2. Nyx Liquid Illiminator, Find it for $7.50 Here, this is THE PERFECT dupe for Benefit’s High Beam. It may even be a bit more pigmented. If you are on a budget this should hands down be the first thing you buy if you’re wanting to start using illuminators. It’s seriously amazing and come on, you can’t beat that price.!

1. The Balm Cosmetics, Mary Lou Manizer, Find it for $24.00. This is by far my favorite highlighter. It has the absolute softest consistency and it’s my every day go to. It shows up so well on my light skin and has the most beautiful slightly gold finish, not too shiny, but definitely noticeable. The Balm Cosmetics just stole my heart with this one.

From top to bottom,

  1. Too Faced, Candlelight
  2. The Balm, Mary Lou Manizer
  3. Benefit, Watts Up
  4. Benefit, High Beam
  5. Nyx, liquid Illiminator
  6. Urban Decay, Illuminated

To all the Girls

To all the Girls

I’ve been thinking about something a lot lately. Something I think needs to be talked about. Why is it that some of us are harder on ourselves than anyone else is.? Why do we expect so much of ourselves.?

To the girl who spends three hours doing their makeup and hair, you’re beautiful.

To the girl who spends five minutes getting ready in the mornings, you’re beautiful.

Do you step on the scale every morning and feel your eyes well up with tears because you’re not the size 2 you were in highschool.? Do you look in the mirror and resent those stretch marks that you have now that you had your baby.? Well don’t. You’re beautiful.

Do you compare yourself to the girls in the magazines.? The ones on tv.? Don’t. They are gorgeous, but so are you.

Perfection is just a theory. Beauty isn’t a cookie cutter, it comes in all shapes, sizes, and walks of life.

To the girls who say horrible things about themselves, who put themselves down.. Would you be friends with someone who treated you the way you treat yourself.?

If not then something needs to change.

You need to cut yourself slack. You’re only human. Every single aspect of you tells a story that only you can.

Do what makes you feel good, do what makes YOU happy. Stop worrying about everyone else because you will never please everyone.

You are beautiful. You are enough.
