Review W7 In the Night: Up in Smoke Palette

Review W7 In the Night: Up in Smoke Palette

Let me start this out by saying I did NOT buy this expecting to be as happy with it as I am. I’ve heard mixed reviews about this brands eyeshadows, some say it’s amazing other complain of chalkiness, but for some reason not every one suffers the chalkiness.. Possibly a bad batch.? I’m not sure, but I can tell you the one I picked up (at a steal, $6 at TJ Maxx,) and I have no problems with it.

I’m so surprised by this palette. The colors (at least in the one I got,) are soft, not chalky at all, SUPER pigmented, and blendable. When I first brushed on one of the dark grays I was like “HOLY PIGMENT,” and it made me so happy.

The only problem I think I have with this product is that I wish the pink was a little more pigmented, but that’s such a small complaint. I’ve been looking for something with grays that I like for months and I’m so glad I found this because it has a mix of matte and sparkly grays in all the shades I wanted plus a couple of gorgeous highlighting colors too. For as cheap as I got this I would buy it again and again. I’d probably pay full price for it. I also picked up “In The Buff” more to come on that later.

My Favorite Drugstore Buys & Today’s Look

My Favorite Drugstore Buys & Today’s Look

I’ve had a lot of messages lately asking about good drugstore buys so I thought it’d be a good idea to make a post dedicated to my favorites from cvs, as well as making a look using as many of them as possible and nothing else.

I was really impressed with how well my makeup turned out today. I always use some drugstore products but it’s not often that I use them only with nothing added. You don’t need anywhere near as many products as I’m about to list, but I wanted to try a bunch of new things and see what worked for me.

Elf Mineral Infused Primer and Illuminating Primer $6 here

I started out with a mix of these two and they’re my go to on a regular basis. They do have more of a silicone feel than a water feel, some people aren’t a fan of that but I love how well it hides my pores, and how soft of a canvas it gives me for the rest of my makeup.

I normally wear my pro matte foundation every day mixed with my born this way foundation, but instead I used it with L’Oreal light infusing primer today.

The foundation is one of my all time favorites and I use Classic Ivory. It’s the closest I’ve found to higher end foundations. Find it here for $13

The primer is something I picked up a few days ago after hearing some mixed reviews on it. I heard that it was too drying, but even with my extremely dry skin I didn’t have a problem. It is extremely bright.! Next time I will probably mix it with my under eye concealer instead of my foundation to keep the brightness where I want it. Find it for 13$ here.

True Match Lumi Cushion in Light Ivory find it here for $17.

I wanted to try this because I’m in awe of the packaging. A sponge.? I love it. I was impressed by the product too, I wanted a little more coverage after applying my foundation and this is a slighting sheer, very buildable formula so I added a light layer of it on top and it created a flawless finish, and has a gorgeous color.

Mabeline Fit Me Foundation Stick in 330, find it here for $9.

Mabeline Fit Me Comcealer in Fair, find it here for $7.

Since I couldn’t find a contour kit in my cvs I used a dark foundation stick to contour along with a very light concealer. This is the way I contoured long before I met my pride and joy, Shade Light. Always a trusty way to get that sculpted look though.!

Elf High Definition Powder, find it here for $6.

Always set your concealer with powder to keep from creasing. I usually use Nars, but I was impressed by this (much) cheaper version.

Milani individual Eyeshadows are $5 a piece here.
Milani Fierce Foil Eyeshine in Florence is $10 here.

The individual eyeshadows shown from top to bottom are Bella Espresso, Bella Sand, Bella Diamond, and Bella Chiffon. I had never used them until today and they’re well pigmented for the price, with minimal fall out and extremely blend able which was my favorite part.

Also Bella Chiffon makes a great highlighter as well.

The Fierce Foil Eye shine was unique to say the least. It’s a glittery gel type formula that is easy to use and stays in place. I’m not sure if it’s my style, but I did love the effect I got from using it.

Elf Gel Liner $3 here.

So I’ve been using this daily for the past week or so. It’s nothing special, just another gel liner but for $3 I want to just buy all the colors.

Milani Brow Pomade in Medium Brow for $8 here.

This stuff is great. I’m a die hard Anastasia Beverly Hills addict but I think I will be adding these to my makeup collection in every color. The brush is great quality as well as the product itself. You can’t beat it for the price.

Physicians Formula City Glow in New York. Find it here for $16.

First of all, this presentation.! So pretty. I’ve always sworn by physicians formula bronzes but have never tried this particular one until today. It’s a two toned bronzer and I loved being able to mix the darker shade with the lighter to get the color I wanted.
NYX baked blush in Chiffon $7.

I’m not big on blush but wanted to be able to review one. This is such a subtle pretty color that went so well with my contour. It’ll probably be a new regular for me.

L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara $8 here.

This is an oldie but a goodie. I always keep this on hand and it’s a long time go to. This was my first time trying the curved brush though and I have to say I just love it.

Last but not least we have lippies. I couldn’t decide which I was going to wear, but I LOVE all of these drug store finds.

MUA Lip Butter in Rose

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss in Statement Nude

MUA Lip Butter in Nude (which I’m wearing.)

So there you have it. When it comes to drugstore products these are the ones I reccomend 100%.

Today’s Makeup and Quick Mac Review

So I picked this up at Mac on Black Friday and for the most part I love it. At some point I’ll swatch it, but I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. The glittery colors are some of my favorite eyeshadows, they have great pigment, and the fall out isn’t too bad. My only complaint is that I wish the light colors showed up a little better, however I do have a light skin tone and they’re buildable so that’s not enough of a reason for me to not love this palette. Over all it’s just amazing.

Today I used the 4 colors in the top right. Pretty simple look because I was in a bit of a hurry but I love it.!
